Atera will reject warranty and guarantee claims as well as regulations for the effects that have arisen.

  • I have changed the vehicle, can I continue to use my previous carrier?

If you own a vehicle with an open railing, then it is usually possible; the length of the support tube may have to be checked and additionally purchased. Bike rack
FOR THE TRAILER
Hitch

  • Where can I find the article number and serial number of my carrier?

On the underside of one of the bicycle rails on a silver sticker.

  • How do I mount my Atera rear rack?

All current Atera rear carriers are attached to the trailer coupling using a clamping mechanism. This clamping mechanism comprises a maximum of 4 locking steps (these are marked by audible clicks when the clamping handle is pressed down). The stage at which the carrier becomes firm depends on the diameter of the tow ball head. With most couplings, the tensioning handle does not have to be brought all the way down to the horizontal, a 45 - 60 degree position is often sufficient. Do not overstrain the mechanism by using too much force. In the first clamp / click position, test whether the carrier can still be turned sideways on the trailer hitch. If this is not possible and the key can be turned in the lock, you can start loading the carrier. If the carrier can still be turned and the lock cannot be closed, press the cocking handle down to the next locking position. Repeat this process until the carrier can no longer be moved on the ball head and the lock closes.

  • How do I know if the carrier is properly seated on the ball?

The Atera Strada bike carrier is placed on the ball head of the trailer coupling. When the tension handle is pressed down, the ball clamp mechanism closes. The carrier is correctly placed and properly clamped when the red / green indicator button above the ball is pushed upwards and the green ring becomes visible. The cocking handle only needs to be pushed down until the lock on the cocking handle can be closed and the carrier can no longer be turned sideways. Depending on the size of the ball head, it is possible that the cocking handle is slightly upwards.

  • How can I find out which carrier is suitable for my vehicle?

Atera Strada bike carriers can be mounted on common trailer hitches (except full aluminum) with a vertical load of at least 50 kg. The maximum load depends on the permissible vertical load of the trailer coupling, which is shown in the instructions of the vehicle manufacturer. It is important to know how many bikes you want to transport, whether you want to transport e-bikes and whether the rack should be collapsible. You will receive the best advice directly on site from our specialist retail partners. You can easily find a specialist retailer near you in the retailer search area.

  • Can I transport e-bikes with all Atera rear carriers?

You can transport e-bikes with all Atera Strada rear carrier models. Please note: With the Strada DL 2 and DL 3 models, up to 2 light e-bikes with a maximum weight of 23.5 kg per bike (please note the permissible total load of 47 kg for the DL 2 model and 45 kg for the DL 3 model).

  • From what center distance is the rear rack E-Bike XL recommended?

The Strada E-Bike XL model is ideal for bikes and e-bikes with a large center distance (from 122 cm).

  • Can aluminum towing devices be used?

Basically, it must be checked whether it is a trailer coupling made of all-aluminum. The AHK that have been in use in recent years usually only have an aluminum coating, which can be checked using a magnet. Only AHK from the 90s are not suitable. More information can be obtained from the coupling manufacturer, where the clearance certificates can also be requested.

  • How many bicycles can I transport in my vehicle?

This is primarily dependent on the vertical load of the trailer coupling, which must not be exceeded with the total load (weight of the bicycle rack weight of the bicycles). Atera Strada bike racks are available for the transport of up to 4 bikes.

  • How can I tell if my trunk lid can be opened?

This basically depends on the trailer coupling installed. Their position is vehicle-specific and subject to tolerance values. Therefore, the opening of the tailgate can only be determined by a test at a specialist dealer on site. You can find a dealer in your area under the Atera dealer search.

  • Which rear carrier has the largest opening angle (tailgate)?

The Atera Strada DL 3 model, Art. No. 022 601, has the largest opening angle.

  • Why does the Strada DL2 / Evo2 / Vario2 have a smaller opening angle than the 3 series?

The pull-out rails in the 2-way versions are shorter due to their design.

  • Which coupling carrier is suitable for box vans with wing doors or large tailgates?

The Strada DL 3 bike carrier has a very wide pull-out mechanism. Opening the wing doors / tailgate is therefore easily possible with a large number of box vans. Even with vehicles in which the wing doors can no longer be opened, a simple trick can still be used to access the car without dismantling the carrier. All that is required is to loosen the Atera clamping lever on the coupling / bring it into a vertical position. In this state, the carrier still holds securely on the coupling, but it can be turned easily to the left and right. So the carrier can first be turned to one side and one of the wing doors can be opened, then turned to the other side and the second wing door can be opened. We recommend a practical test at an Atera specialist dealer, as the position of the coupling can vary even on vehicles of the same type.

  • Which carrier can I use to open the rear doors on my motorhome (Fiat Ducato)?

Depending on the position of the trailer coupling, this is most likely possible with the Strada DL 3 bike rack. In order to check this exactly, however, you should do a trial assembly at your dealer. You can find a dealer in your area under the Atera dealer search. However, it is important to know that the Strada DL 3 is only suitable for e-bikes to a limited extent. Up to 2 light e-bikes with a maximum weight of 23.5 kg can be transported per bike (please note the permissible total load of 45 kg).

  • Is every single bike on the rack protected from theft?

    And.

  • How can the gripper arms be moved?

In the Atera Strada Evo 2/3 and Vario 2/3 models, the gripper arms can be completely removed and moved. The attachment of the bicycles is particularly convenient.

  • I have a 7-pin towbar what should I do?

Use a 13-pin to 7-pin adapter. This is available as an accessory.

  • The rear carrier is no longer firmly attached to the clutch, even at level 4 of the lever position?

If the retaining bracket has two large openings, the tension can be built up again with the compensation plate 095 611, after which do not press the tensioning lever into the 4th locking step with too much force!

  • How fast can I drive with a rear rack?

A recommended speed of 130 km / h is recommended, there is no legal regulation.

  • Why does only 1 reversing light work? Is this allowed?

Our models have a type approval and are therefore permissible.

  • How and where can I get an additional license plate?

In Germany, from every manufacturer of the vehicle registration number, by submitting our user information.

  • How can I get a replacement key for my Strada bike carrier?

This can be done at your local dealer or directly in the Atera sales department. To order, you need the 3-digit key number that is engraved on the lock cylinder.

  • Can I use an ATERA rear rack abroad?

Yes, country-specific requirements (see ADAC) must be observed.

  • Is my Genio Pro bicycle carrier affected by the recall?

Your carrier is affected by the recall if the label on the packaging box says "Genio Pro" and the number underneath the left barcode ends with "000". In this case, please contact your dealer that they can process the complaint for you. If this is not possible for you, please send us an e-mail to rueckruf@atera.de with your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address.

If the label on the packaging box says "Genio Pro Advanced" and the number underneath the left barcode ends with "001", the carrier is not affected by the recall.

If your carrier has a reinforcement on the bolt and a green dot in the extension of the attachment of the trailer coupling, it was affected by the recall but has been repaired.
